Developing

teams

An organisation can be stacked high with individual talent but the value of that talent depends on the ability of people to work together to create something unique, a cohesive and performing team.

The most successful teams actively develop processes to encourage different approaches and perspectives, knowing that the discomfort this can pose is ouweighed by the benefit in the output they create.

Yet, unconsciously, most managers incline towards people with similar styles and backgrounds and undervalue different skills and thinking. An external mentor can help a team move past this natural human instinct to find a level of constructive tension which goes beyond comfortable conformity.

As team mentors,we:

  • use models and profiling to help the team identify the differing strengths it already has

  • facilitate the team to agree processes of problem solving, thinking and decision-making which make best use of these strengths and compensate for any 'blindspots'

  • coach the team to get past any interpersonal 'blocks' or conflict

  • define practical and robust steps to recruit people with balancing experiences and styles

We work with teams through individual learning events or over time as team members work through specific work assignments.
